Syed had his first bath at home a few days ago. He wasn't exactly thrilled with the experience, although he emerged cleaner than when he started. The pictures don't depict all of the tears he experienced. He succeeded in informing the neighbors through screams at various decibel levels that he was unhappy with us as parents at that point in his life. Suffice it to say, he calmed down and slept well that night.

A Week in the Life of Syed Brian
Syed Brian Mahmood Azhar
Say hello to Syed Brian Mahmood Azhar! He made his arrival a little more than 3 weeks early. Syed Brian was born at 7:04 pm on January 18, 2009. He weighed 7 lb, 15 oz and was 20 inches long. He came home on January 25, 2009, after a VERY long first week that was characterized by many tests. Little Syed was a trooper through all of the exams and is doing well at home. I'll provide more details on his arrival and first week in another post.

35.5 Weeks

So in response to requests for pictures, here I am at just under 36 weeks. Discomfort is increasing on a daily, and perhaps even an hourly, basis, and I'm sure that I am just only beginning to understand the depths of discomfort that can be known. We are starting last minute preparations and I am trying to wrap things up at work so that going on leave will be a smooth process (hopefully). Now that I'm in the last month, we are really starting to get anxious, excited, and nervous in anticipation of meeting Baby Azhar.
Syed still hasn't quite gotten used to having a wife who is around all of the time, and he often reminds me that this is not the type of marriage that he signed up for. For my part, I am going through withdrawal as I haven't stayed in a Marriott nor have I been to the airport in over a month. And that is just the beginning of the adjustments that must still be made.
