Merry Christmas

Happy Holidays from Simon and Charlie!

Welcome

Welcome to a blog about life with two miniature dachshunds and a baby boy in small Chicago suburb. Simon, our first dachshund, is demanding, opinionated, stubborn, barky, and a drama queen, even though he is allegedly male. Charlie, our second dachshund, was rescued and is quiet, obedient, grateful, and slightly protective. They balance one another (usually). The baby, which will debut in February 2009, is still an enigma. We don't know much about the baby, other than he likes to kick mom in the ribs and cause general discomfort as he continues to enjoy life in the 90th percentile for size. I am Monica, the 'mother' to the dogs and soon to be baby. As of December 5, 2008, I am now home for the longest period of time, EVER. I haven't stayed in the same place for this long since I was in high school. Syed, the 'father,' is gradually watching his youth fade into oblivion as he realizes that not only will he have two miniature dachshunds wanting his attention, he now has to pay attention to a wife who is here on a consistent basis. This is clearly not the marriage he signed up for as I am typically gone 3-4 days/week. We are all adjusting... As we attempt to make the adjustment to living happily together and prepare to welcome the baby, we will keep providing updates.
